BAUXITE MINE

General Informatıon

Bauxite consists of aluminum iron oxide and hydroxide and minerals (such as boehmite, gibbsite, diasphore). It develops as a result of filtration and washing of rocks which consists of aluminum silicate concretes secondarily with rain under tropical conditions. They can be observed in green, brown, red and grey colors.

Bauxite hardness of which changes between 1-7 in Mohs scale, intensity of which changes between 2,5-4,5 gr/cm³ has an important role in world trade for being main mine on production of aluminum metal. Bauxite is also used frequently in cement, iron and steel, refractory and abrasive industry.

Known world Bauxite reserve is approximately 38 billion ton. Guinea has %23 of the world reserve with 8.6 billion tons, Australia has %21 with 7.9 billion tons, Vietnam has %14 with 5.4 billion tons and Brazil has biggest reserve with %7, 5.4 billion tons and rate.

Known bauxite reserve in Turkey is 68.910.000 tons according to MTA data. This number constitutes pretty little part of world reserve as 0,001.8. %90 of bauxite mined in world is used for production of aluminum and this increases in parallel with aluminum demand. Production of bauxite has reached 350 billion ton in the world since 2015.

Proved reserve in Demireller Mining A.Ş. bauxite areas is estimated as 8 million tons, potential reserve is estimated as 16 million tons.

Demireller Mining Chemical Analysis Laboratory went into action in 2010. Chemical analysis of various industrial ores particularly iron was started to be made as of the inclusion of XRF Chemical Analysis Device to the system in 2011.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Production is carried out in our quarries using the open pit method. Bauxite is processed and classified according to grain size in our crushing-screening facilities located in Arslanköy-Mersin, Muğla and Mihallıççık - Eskişehir. Our products are shipped to customers from 4 different ports after quality checks are carried out in our laboratory according to customer demand.
